Andy van der Raadt is a software engineer and multidisciplanary designer with nearly two decades of combined experience.
I love the web as a platform, and I believe in developing to its strengths.
I'm most fluent in frontend development but comfortable across the full stack — React, Next.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, React Native, and the ecosystems around them. My background in graphic design and brand development isn't a former life; it's an active part of how I work, letting me bridge the worlds of engineering and design in ways that keep the user at the centre of every decision.
I'm drawn to problems that resist easy categorization. The ones that sit at the edges of disciplines — part technical, part human, part strategic — and demand genuine curiosity to untangle. I believe the best solutions come from understanding not just what to build, but why it matters to the person on the other end of it.
Collaboration is foundational to how I work. I think teams built on trust, candour, and mutual respect consistently outperform collections of individual contributors, no matter how talented. I mentor junior developers because I believe in the obligation to pass things forward — and because teaching is one of the fastest ways to sharpen your own thinking.
I've built my career on the premise that great work comes from empathy for the user, humility within a team, and a lifelong commitment to figuring things out. If that sounds like someone you'd want in your corner — let's talk.
I am currently available for full-time and contract work.
